shift – Systemische Hilfe in Familie und Team gGmbH is a non-profit organization that is professionally dedicated to child, youth and family support for people with and without disabilities. In the greater Cologne/Düsseldorf area, shift operates on behalf of youth welfare offices, the Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR) and local courts.
The range of services offered by shift is diverse and includes advising parent groups, offering training apartments for young people, including unaccompanied minor refugees, as well as supervision for individuals and teams in social work. shift develops individual solution strategies and promotes success for people who want to develop further.
The systemic approach forms the basis of all services. shift always considers the individual, the family or the team in the context of their social relationships and takes these aspects into account when developing assistance and solutions. The field of activity ranges from youth and family support according to the SGB VIII to accompanied contact, guardianships and legal support according to § 1896 BGB to supervision for teams in social institutions and assisted living according to the SGB XII.
The pedagogical team at shift consists of specialists with degrees or training in the social sector or in healthcare. Additional qualifications and practical skills in areas such as systemic counseling/therapy, child protection, violence against women, intercultural competence and adventure education ensure a high quality of work.
shift is a member of various organizations and working groups that serve to ensure quality.
The "Help for Education" offer is a core competence of shift. It includes services for families in which education appropriate to the child's well-being is not guaranteed. shift offers outpatient family support, crisis intervention, systemic coaching, parenting courses and individual support.
The "Shifthaus" offers young people from the age of 16 the opportunity to become independent in a shared apartment, a flat share or a single apartment. The concept includes round-the-clock care and the possibility of individually designing the process of becoming independent.
shift also offers training apartments for young people from the age of 16 to prepare them for independent living. Practical help in everyday life and a crisis-proof relationship offer strengthen the self-confidence of young people.
In the area of parent coaching, shift offers parent groups in which parents with similar problems are advised together. The parents receive support and experience that they are not alone with their difficulties.
The adventure and experiential education of shift enables children and young people to catch up on missing boundary experiences and to strengthen their self-perception, their trust and their social skills.
shift also offers assisted living according to SGB XII for adults with mental illnesses, addictions or disabilities. The aim is to lead a life that is as self-determined as possible in their home and to enable social participation.
