The Stiftung Luthergedenkstätten in Sachsen-Anhalt is dedicated to preserving and communicating the cultural heritage of the Reformation and Martin Luther. It operates and manages important historical sites that are closely linked to the life and work of Martin Luther. These include the Lutherhaus and the Melanchthonhaus in Wittenberg, Luther's Birth House and Death House in Eisleben, and Luther's Parents' House in Mansfeld.
The foundation offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of the Reformation and learn more about the person of Martin Luther, his ideas and his time. The museums present exhibitions that are both scientifically sound and accessible to a broad audience. Not only are the major historical contexts illuminated, but also personal insights into Luther's life and work are provided.
Special attention is paid to the communication of history and culture to children and young people. The foundation offers special museum educational programs for daycare centers and schools to inspire young people about the topics of the Reformation and Luther. In addition, the foundation is involved in research and thus contributes to the expansion of knowledge about the Reformation.
The Lutherhaus in Wittenberg is currently being energetically renovated and made more accessible for tourists. During this time, the special exhibition "Buchstäblich Luther. Facetten eines Reformators" is being shown in the neighboring Augusteum, which presents the greatest treasures of the permanent exhibition.
The Stiftung Luthergedenkstätten in Sachsen-Anhalt sees itself as a place of encounter and dialogue.
