The Werk- und Betreuungsstätte für Körperbehinderte gGmbH (WuB) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Ottendorf near Kiel, which has continuously developed from a parent self-help initiative since its founding in 1967 into a specialized care and employment facility for people with severe and multiple disabilities[3][7]. With over 200 employees, the WuB offers differentiated and individual support services to enable people with disabilities to actively participate in social life and to promote their personal life perspectives[3][7].
The range of services includes vocational employment through around 100 places in day care centers as well as age-appropriate offers for older people with disabilities in the day structure[3]. In addition, WuB operates five residential facilities in various districts of Kiel and the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district with a total of over 80 residential places, supported by outpatient services such as Ambulantes Betreutes Wohnen, everyday assistance, supportive communication and a residential school[3][7]. The needs and wishes of the users are always the focus; they are actively represented in residential councils, employee and overall advisory boards and shape the further development of the offers with their perspectives[3].
The mission of the WuB is to create an inclusive, humanly compassionate and professional environment in which people with physical and multiple disabilities are accompanied, promoted and supported according to their individual abilities. The corporate culture is characterized by a cooperative partnership between employees and users, which promotes mutual learning and self-determination[3][5].
Sustainability in the social sense is reflected in the constant further development of support services that strengthen both the independence and the social integration of those cared for. The commitment to inclusion, needs-oriented care and the promotion of self-determination are central values that the WuB carries and lives[3][7]. The WuB is supported by the Landesverband für körper- und mehrfachbehinderte Menschen Schleswig-Holstein e.V., which underlines the sustainable anchoring in the regional community and the social purpose[1][8].
The Werk- und Betreuungsstätte für Körperbehinderte gGmbH thus positions itself as a reliable partner for people with disabilities, their relatives and for professionals who are committed to individual quality of life and social participation in an inclusive, supportive environment.
