    The Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS is offering a position for a Research Assistant in the field of analog IC design at their location in Erfurt. The role involves developing integrated circuits for microdisplays and sensors, working with different technology nodes, project management, supervising students, maintaining contacts with clients and partners, and presenting results to stakeholders. The ideal candidate should have a background in electrical engineering, strong knowledge of analog semiconductor circuit technology, experience in analog design flow, and proficiency in Cadence design tools. Fluency in German and English is required.


    • Conception and development of integrated circuits for microdisplays and sensors
    • Creating the analog design in different technology nodes
    • Project responsibility with the aim of personal development in project management
    • Supervision of students or doctoral candidates
    • Maintaining contacts and expanding the network with international industrial clients, academic cooperation partners, and funding bodies
    • Collaboration with colleagues in project acquisition and management
    • Presenting results to client companies and customers
    • Publishing in specialist media and participating in workshops and conferences


    • Completed scientific studies in electrical engineering (microelectronics, information technology) or comparable courses of study
    • Good knowledge of digital and very good knowledge of analog semiconductor circuit technology
    • Practical experience in analog design flow and in the use of Cadence design tools
    • Interest in taking on responsibility in the area of technical project management and project acquisition
    • Motivated and communicative personality characterized by a conscientious and high-quality way of working
    • Desirable: Experience in analog and mixed-signal design flow
    • Very good communication skills in German and English
