BORA e.V.

Women’s Projects BORA e.V. was founded in 1992 as a non-profit organization, with roots in a voluntary feminist initiative that opened the women’s shelter BORA in 1990. The association has developed into a professional provider of social work under the umbrella of the Diakonisches Werk Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische-Oberlausitz (DWBO).

• Protection and Aftercare Facilities: BORA e.V. offers safe spaces for women and their children who are or have been exposed to violent situations. These facilities include professional counseling and support to counteract the physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences of violence.
• Prevention Projects: The association is engaged in prevention work to support women and their children affected by violence and to develop new life perspectives.
• Consultation Services: BORA e.V. provides comprehensive counseling and support based on the principle of helping people to help themselves, to assist those affected in overcoming the consequences of violence.
• Public Relations Work: The association actively engages in public relations work to combat violence against women and to de-taboo the socio-political backgrounds that facilitate this violence.

The main mission of BORA e.V. is to provide a safe space for women and their children who are or have been exposed to violent situations and to help them assert their rights. The association is committed to developing new life perspectives for those affected and fighting against all forms of violence against women. The values of the association are based on feminist principles and a commitment to the rights and self-determination of women.

• Collaboration and Networking: BORA e.V. works closely with other projects, organizations, and groups that pursue similar goals. These collaborations include dialogues with authorities and public institutions to enforce the rights of affected women and children.
