Evang.-Luth. Dekanat Sulzbach-Rosenberg

The Altdekanat Sulzbach-Rosenberg is part of the newly founded Dekanat Cham-Sulzbach-Rosenberg-Weiden in 2024 within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. Located in the central Upper Palatinate, the area extends from near the Nuremberg region to the Czech border.

The Altdekanat Sulzbach-Rosenberg comprises 20 parishes with 24 congregations, in which around 38,000 evangelical Christians live. It connects regions with different historical and cultural characteristics. Shaped by the Reformation in the 16th century, the Simultaneum and iron ore mining in the west, the electoral residential city of Amberg in the center and the diaspora area in the east, the deanery reflects the diversity of the Upper Palatinate.

The Altdekanat Sulzbach-Rosenberg offers a wide range of spiritual services, including church services, devotions (also as video and radio devotions), church music and educational events. A special focus is on the prevention of abuse and work with children and young people.

The Evangelische Bildungswerk Oberpfalz, with which the Altdekanat cooperates, offers a diverse program for adult education. It is an association of evangelical institutions in the deanery districts of Sulzbach-Rosenberg and Weiden, which are responsible for adult education in the church.

The Altdekanat Sulzbach-Rosenberg sees itself as an open and welcoming community that lives the faith and accompanies people in their different life situations. It is committed to a lively community life, the promotion of church music and the management of social challenges.
