The Fantasie-Kinderhaus gGmbH has been an integral part of the Wilhelmsburg district in Hamburg since 1996. At two locations with a total of three houses, the facility cares for children aged 6 months until they start school. As an inclusive children's center, it creates a space where children with and without disabilities, from different cultural backgrounds, with different religions and individual needs grow up and learn together. The Kita emphasizes a warm togetherness and welcomes all families regardless of their backgrounds.
The core service of the Fantasie-Kinderhaus is high-quality, inclusive care in a family environment. The three houses offer age-appropriate groups for babies, toddlers and older children, with a focus on playful learning and development. Current projects such as the on November 7th – with self-made lanterns, songs and a procession through the district in cooperation with parents and the police – or the with fire, stick bread and rituals for the cycle of nature show the lively Kita everyday life. Such events promote creativity, community and cultural diversity. Parent cafés and celebrations strengthen the sense of belonging.
The mission statement of the Fantasie-Kinderhaus is: "Growing up together!" It is a place that welcomes all children and families. The pedagogy is based on inclusion as a central principle: children learn from each other, respect differences and discover their strengths. Values such as openness, tolerance, creativity and sustainability run through everyday life. The facility creates a togetherness that combines individual support with group dynamics, and seamlessly integrates cultural and religious diversity.
Sustainability is deeply rooted in Kita's everyday life. Events such as the Winter Solstice sensitize children to natural cycles and rituals, promote environmental awareness through craft activities and regional materials. The house integrates ecological practices, for example in projects on nature and the seasons, and strengthens awareness of resource conservation and community through joint celebrations. In the long term, the Kita aims to teach children values such as responsibility for the environment and social justice - inclusive and future-oriented.
With over 25 years of experience, the Fantasie-Kinderhaus is a role model for inclusive childcare. It invites you to experience Kita's everyday life up close: from crafting lanterns to festive processions. Fantasy is created here, where diversity becomes a strength.
