Gangway

Gangway e.V. is an organization that has been active since 1990, specializing in street social work in Berlin. With over 100 social workers, we work closely in various teams with young people and adults living in vulnerable life and housing situations.

• Streetwork: We reach out to people in their living environments, whether in parks, train stations, backyards, nightclubs, or around social facilities. Our streetwork teams work with young people, homeless adults, and offer complementary streetwork services[2][3].
• Youth Support: We support young people, especially those for whom completing school is challenging, and provide individual support to pave their way to a successful school graduation[4].
• International Projects: With the project "BronxBerlinConnection," we bring together young creatives from Berlin and New York within the framework of hip-hop culture to promote cultural exchange and personal development[3].

Our mission is to meet people in their living environments with respect, appreciation, and active listening. We are committed to strengthening the abilities of each individual, enabling participation in societal resources. We respect and empower people's right to self-determination in shaping their life perspectives and daily lives. We firmly oppose misanthropy, racism, and exclusion, and see the diversity of cultures, languages, and different life concepts as an enrichment and resource for our society[2].

• Unconditional Life Assistance: We provide life assistance without conditions and support people in the self-responsible design of their lives. This includes help with authorities and offices, job searching, conflict mediation in schools and at home, as well as in public spaces[1][2].
• Social Networks: We are part of Berlin's social network "T_REST" and participate in the initiative "Transparent Civil Society." Additionally, we operate the "Berlin Counseling Network for Immigrants," an online platform with multilingual counseling and support services[2].
