Hamburger Klimaschutzstiftung

The Hamburger Klimaschutzstiftung is an established player in the field of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the Hamburg metropolitan region, with a special focus on climate protection. The foundation was founded in 2008 by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

• Gut Karlshöhe: Operation of a future-oriented learning and experience location for the general public with a diverse range of offers on our natural foundations of life, climate and energy, biodiversity and sustainable consumption.
• #moinzukunft Hamburger Klimafonds: Support for non-profit Hamburg initiatives and institutions that raise awareness of the global and local impacts of climate change.
• Hamburger Masterplan BNE 2030: Promotion of Education for Sustainable Development with concrete measures to enable people in Hamburg to move towards transformative thinking and sustainable action.
• Klimaschule PLUS: Support for Hamburg schools in the development and expansion of their climate protection activities and skills.
• Energie hoch 4: Raising awareness among students of climate and environmental protection and active participation in energy saving at their schools.
• Forum Bezirke: Networking of the Hamburg districts to promote the implementation of Agenda 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
• Forum Frühkindliche Bildung: Promoting the anchoring of ESD in Hamburg daycare centers.

Mission and Values:

The Hamburger Klimaschutzstiftung provides space for Education for Sustainable Development in Hamburg with a special focus on climate protection. It operates Gut Karlshöhe as the location equipped for this purpose and directs its offers to all age groups, social groups and institutions. The statutory purpose of the Hamburger Klimaschutzstiftung is to promote environmental, nature and climate protection as well as art and culture, based on the guiding principle of sustainable development.

Sustainability Goals and Initiatives:

The foundation is actively committed to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Hamburg. Through projects such as the Hamburger Masterplan BNE 2030 and the Forum Bezirke, concrete measures to promote sustainable development in the city are initiated and supported. The foundation attaches importance to networking actors from various fields in order to use synergies and avoid duplication of work.

The Hamburger Klimaschutzstiftung strives to contribute to a future worth living and to effectively integrate climate protection into everyday life.
