Kindertagesstätten Berlin Süd-West

Die Kindertagesstätten Berlin Süd-West, an independent operation of Berlin, is the provider of 36 day-care centers in the districts of Tempelhof-Schöneberg and Steglitz-Zehlendorf. Around 4,300 children live, learn and play here every day.

The focus of the pedagogical work is on children's rights and child protection. The facilities treat every child, employee and parent with respect and appreciation. Participation is a high priority, and a distinct education and training culture is cultivated. The goal is to give the children support and at the same time give them wings so that they can develop in the best possible way.

The Kitas are characterized by a high proportion of skilled workers, with over 90% qualified educators and specialist educators for integration or inclusion and participation. Many Kitas have their own, beautiful and large outdoor areas that offer safe places with plenty of space for movement and exploration in the fresh air. Close and trusting cooperation with parents and parent representatives is a major concern.

The pedagogical work is based on the Berliner Bildungsprogramm and takes into account the individual development requirements and needs of each child. Many facilities have additional focuses, such as nature, movement, language, early musical education or integration/inclusion.

Diversity and inclusion are actively practiced, and there is a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination or racism. The Kitas see themselves as learning institutions and regularly offer think tanks on the topic of diversity.
