Krebsberatung Berlin-Brandenburg e. V.

Krebsberatung Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. is a non-profit association that, since its founding in 2007, has been dedicated to providing comprehensive outpatient support to cancer patients and their families in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. The association operates several counseling centers and branch offices to support those affected in various phases of the disease.

Core Services:

The association offers a wide range of psycho-oncological and psychosocial counseling services. These include:

• Psycho-oncological support: Counseling, guidance and support for patients and relatives in all phases of the disease and treatment. This includes individual, couple and family discussions, psychological preparation for treatments as well as courses, groups and workshops. If necessary, referrals to outpatient psychotherapy are made.
• Psychosocial counseling: Information on prevention and early detection, on various cancers and forms of treatment. Another focus is on advising on social security law issues such as severe disability, financial assistance, rehabilitation and the application for aids. The association also provides information about self-help and cancer sports groups as well as addresses for second opinions, palliative care and hospice services.

Mission and Values:

The main mission of the association is to accompany cancer patients and their families in a time of particular challenges. The aim is to provide those affected with the necessary information and versatile advice so that they can organize their lives as well as possible and maintain their quality of life. The association attaches great importance to providing both concrete information and psychological support in order to facilitate coping with the diagnosis, treatment and the time afterwards.

Sustainability and Financing:

Krebsberatung Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. relies on a variety of funding sources to ensure its counseling and group offerings. In addition to partial funding from the GKV-Spitzenverband, the statutory and private health insurance companies and the Ministerium für Gesundheit und Soziales des Landes Brandenburg and the Gemeinde Wandlitz, the association relies on project funds, donations, sponsors and supporting memberships.

Current Developments:

The association is constantly developing its services to meet the needs of those affected. These include new group offerings such as "Leben mit Krebs – Patientenschulung" and "Trauerspaziergänge in Wandlitz" as well as a new relatives group.
