The Sozialwerk St. Georg e.V. is a decentrally organized social service company with headquarters in Gelsenkirchen and approximately 150 locations in North Rhine-Westphalia. For more than 70 years, the Sozialwerk has been supporting and promoting people with assistance needs and sustainably improving their quality of life through courage, responsibility and innovation[2]. More than 2,500 dedicated employees support around 4,700 people with mental illnesses, disabilities, autism, addiction problems or social difficulties every day - be it in housing, work, leisure, everyday life, education and counseling[2].

The company's core services include a wide range of offers for people with support needs, including workshops and day centers, inclusion companies, outpatient assisted living and various contact points[2]. For companies, the Sozialwerk offers innovative and reliable manufacturing and services, event locations for company celebrations, catering services and guest houses with conference facilities. Every order directly supports the integration and preservation of jobs for people with assistance needs[1].

The main mission of the Sozialwerk St. Georg is to enable people with assistance needs to live a self-determined, independent and dignified life. Work and participation in social life are the focus, in order to promote independence and social integration[2]. The values of the Sozialwerk are characterized by diversity, respect, responsibility and a continuous desire for innovation.

The Sozialwerk's sustainability goals and current initiatives include the targeted promotion of digital and assistive technologies in the workplace to further strengthen participation and self-determination. The Sozialwerk is involved in projects for the development and introduction of smart assistance systems, promotes digital skills and is committed to a barrier-free digital infrastructure[5]. The Sozialwerk is currently coordinating a joint project to test assistive technologies in integration assistance, which is funded by the Sozialstiftung NRW. The aim is to facilitate work processes and further expand the self-determination of the clients.

With interactive exhibitions such as "ECHT MEIN RECHT!", the Sozialwerk also provides impetus for prevention, empowerment and protection against violence. The exhibition is aimed at people with disabilities and supports institutions in fulfilling their prevention tasks. Through such initiatives, the Sozialwerk underlines its commitment to participation, inclusion and social responsibility[5].

The Stiftung Sozialwerk St. Georg, founded in 2001, also specifically promotes projects in the areas of housing, work and leisure in order to initiate and bundle foundation engagement[5]. In summary, the Sozialwerk St. Georg stands for an inclusive society in which people with assistance needs can participate in life in a self-determined and active way. Innovation, sustainability and social commitment always form the basis for the company's activities.
