The MAAKON-Akademie für Onkologie und Versorgungsforschung is a non-profit GmbH dedicated to the sustainable improvement of treatment and care quality in oncology.[1][3][5] As a specialized educational institution, it promotes the continuous training of doctors, medical staff and other specialists to ensure the highest standards in cancer treatment.[4][6]
The main mission of the MAAKON-Akademie is: To strengthen the quality of oncological care in the long term through practical, evidence-based training.[1][3] Sustainability is at the center - not only in terms of environmental initiatives, but above all as a principle of lasting impact on the health system. The academy embodies values such as , and by integrating current therapies, forms of care and case management. As a non-profit organization, it prioritizes social benefit over economic interests and emphasizes data protection and transparency in all activities.[7][8]
The centerpiece of the offer is certified training courses on top topics in oncology. These include:
An example is the multi-part training course for Medical Assistants (MFA), which runs from September 2025 to June 2026. It consists of six modules with concrete case discussions, classroom instruction in Mannheim and a final colloquium. The number of participants is limited (max. 16 people) to ensure intensive support. The prerequisite is a completed training as MFA or equivalent with professional experience.[10] These are supplemented by refresher and in-depth courses, such as the one-day appointment on November 22, 2025.[10]
In addition, the academy organizes regular events, news updates and specialized courses that are tailored to current challenges in oncology.[2][8] All formats are designed to be seamlessly integrated into everyday practice - flexibly as face-to-face or hybrid events.[10]
Sustainability runs through the entire portfolio of the MAAKON-Akademie. It aims to achieve long-term competence enhancement that goes beyond individual events and strengthens the oncology network.[1][3] Specifically, it promotes:
Although explicit environmental initiatives are not highlighted in detail, the non-profit status and focus on resource-saving, efficient care reflect a sustainable business model. The academy dynamically adapts programs (e.g. in the event of important changes) to maintain relevance.[8][10]
In a time of increasing oncology cases, the MAAKON-Akademie is positioning itself as an indispensable partner for the German healthcare system. Its programs close gaps in further education, promote interdisciplinary collaboration and contribute to patient-centered care. With a clear focus on certification and practical relevance, it prepares specialists for future challenges - from personalized medicine to networked case management.[4][6]
The MAAKON-Akademie thus embodies commitment to better oncology care: innovative, sustainable and practical. It invites you to become part of a network that changes lives.[1][3]
