Die Monheimer Wohnen GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the city of Monheim am Rhein, was founded in February 2017. Its goal is to provide high-quality and affordable housing for all generations and sections of the population.
The focus of the activities is the development of inner-city brownfield sites and gaps in development for innovative residential development. However, the qualification and modernization of existing housing stock is also the stated goal.
The projects that have been realized include the "Unter den Linden" residential quarter with 233 apartments, the "Françoise-Dolto-Str. / Europaallee" construction project with 31 apartments and a daycare center, and the Sophie-Scholl-Quartier, in which a total of 201 apartments will be built by late summer 2025.
When awarding apartments, Monheimer Wohnen places particular emphasis on supporting families with children, people with a need for barrier-free housing and people who already live or work in Monheim am Rhein. Social emergencies are also taken into account in order to provide people in difficult situations with a new home.
Die Monheimer Wohnen GmbH strives for sustainable development by integrating modern layouts and its own energy supply on the roof into its construction projects.
