navel robotics GmbH develops and produces next-generation social robots that possess unique social skills and offer a novel User Experience by combining Deep Tech and innovative interaction design. The company aims to create empathetic robots that people enjoy interacting with, making the potential of robots and artificial intelligence accessible to everyone, especially in social areas.

The main product, the social robot "navel", is designed to build social relationships and provide companionship to people. It communicates naturally by understanding spoken language as well as non-verbal signals such as facial expressions and gestures. Through the use of artificial intelligence, especially large language models (LLM) like GPT, navel is able to flexibly comment on various topics, remember previous conversations, and respond to the emotions of its counterpart.

navel is used in various areas:

• Pflege: In nursing facilities, navel cognitively and emotionally activates residents, improves their well-being and relieves the burden on nursing staff. He addresses residents individually by name, remembers previous conversations, talks about everyday things, tells jokes and poems.
• Forschung: As a research robot, navel enables the exploration of new methods in social human-robot interaction. A Python SDK is available to researchers and developers to customize the robot's behavior and develop their own applications.
• Service: In the service sector, for example in retail, navel awakens sympathy and at the same time offers helpful information and services.

navel robotics places great emphasis on data protection. The architecture of the robot is designed to handle personal data as carefully as possible. Image data is processed directly on the robot and deleted after 100 milliseconds. For language processing, services on European servers are used to ensure compliance with EU laws.

The company has successfully completed the VIVA research project, in which a social robot was developed from scratch. navel robotics is constantly working on the further development of its products and services in order to meet the needs of users and make a positive contribution to society.
