SEGEMI, founded in 2015, is a registered association dedicated to promoting mental health in the Hamburg metropolitan region, particularly for people with a background of flight and migration. Our goal is to improve the psychosocial care of these groups within the Hamburg healthcare system.

• Counseling and Support: We offer counseling and support for people of all ages and backgrounds who are psychologically burdened by war, persecution, torture, flight, and displacement[2][3].
• Interpreting Services: To overcome language barriers, we provide professional and trained interpreters to established psychotherapists and psychiatrists, enabling them to treat their patients in almost 50 different languages[1][3].
• Education and Training: We promote the qualification of professionals working with interpreters through regular training and supervision[3].

Our mission is to ensure equal access to support systems in the medical, social, and legal fields. We are committed to ensuring that no one is disadvantaged or favored because of their gender, descent, race, language, homeland and origin, beliefs, or religious or political views[3].

• Research Projects: We participate in research projects, such as the ZwischenSprachen projects, to continuously improve psychosocial care[3].
• Networking and Promotion: Our work is made possible by the valuable support of various organizations and networks, including Amnesty International, which promotes the psychosocial center (PSZ) of the association[2].
• Social Recognition: SEGEMI was successful in the Förderpenny campaign of the PENNY markets and has advocated for equitable healthcare without hurdles and barriers[2].
