About Abendroth-Haus
editThe Abendroth-Haus has stood for continuity and innovation in social work with women and families since 1821. As Hamburg's oldest independent youth welfare institution, founded as Magdalenenstift by Senator Amandus Augustus Abendroth, the Abendroth-Haus has developed into a specialist for mother-child support and socio-spatial outpatient support.
The focus of the work is on the well-being of the child, enabling development and promoting self-determination. The Abendroth-Haus offers a variety of assistance, including mother-child shared apartments in various settings, outpatient educational assistance such as socio-educational family support and educational support, as well as preventive early assistance for pregnant women and young parents with children aged 0-3 years.
The goal is to work together with those affected in difficult life situations in a solution-oriented manner, to promote responsibility and to offer sustainable support. The Abendroth-Haus relies on a trusting relationship and resource-oriented help for self-help.
The Abendroth-Haus is committed to the further development of the offers and works closely with other institutions, specialist authorities and the General Social Services. Professionally qualified and committed employees who support each other shape the professionalism of the institution.
As a member of the Diakonisches Werk, the Abendroth-Haus pursues exclusively non-profit purposes and is managed by an honorary board that represents the foundation externally and supports the management.
