The
The Theresia-Gerhardinger-Gymnasium am Anger (TGGaA) is a traditional, state-approved girls' grammar school in the heart of Munich, which has stood for holistic and future-oriented education since 1833. The school offers three profiled educational branches: a linguistic, a musical and an economic-scientific branch, each of which provides comprehensive, individually tailored learning opportunities.
In the linguistic branch, students are enabled to learn three to four foreign languages - starting with English in the 5th grade, followed by Latin or French as a second foreign language and Spanish as a third foreign language from the 8th grade. Foreign language teaching places great emphasis on communicative skills in the areas of speaking, writing, listening and reading comprehension and uses modern textbooks and digital media. Furthermore, it is possible to choose Italian as a late-starting language. In the musical branch, creativity, theater competence and artistic creation are particularly promoted, among other things through special theater classes from the 5th grade. The economic-scientific branch imparts sound knowledge of economic, legal and political topics with reference to the students' lives.
The school is characterized by its Christian values and a family-like school community that focuses on individual support, social responsibility and respectful interaction. In addition to imparting sound knowledge, the school concept also includes the development of personal and social skills.
An important aspect of the school's philosophy is sustainability and social justice: the TGGaA promotes the freedom of learning materials by providing all textbooks to the students free of charge - the only exceptions are the foreign language books, which support personal ownership. In addition, no child should be excluded from attending school due to financial constraints; reductions or exemptions from school fees are possible. The free school transport up to the 10th grade, provided that certain conditions are met, also stands for ecological and social sustainability.
The TGGaA attaches importance to a modern pedagogical orientation that includes digital media and contemporary teaching methods in order to optimally prepare students for the challenges of a globalized world. Particular attention is paid to the development of linguistic, artistic and economic skills that enable personal development and active participation in society.
The offer is rounded off by a wide selection of elective subjects and individual support options, which enable students to discover and deepen their talents and interests in a variety of ways. Overall, the Theresia-Gerhardinger-Gymnasium am Anger sees itself as a modern educational institution with a long tradition, which promotes both academic achievement and personality development in an appreciative, sustainable environment.
