About Kongregation der Barmherzigen Schwestern vom hl. Vinzenz von Paul in Hildesheim
editThe Kongregation der Barmherzigen Schwestern vom hl. Vinzenz von Paul in Hildesheim, often referred to as Vinzentinerinnen for short, is a community dedicated to Christian service to others. Inspired by their patron saints, Saint Vinzenz von Paul and Saint Luise von Marillac, the sisters are committed to helping people in need, those in need of assistance, and those seeking help, regardless of gender, origin, ideology, or religion.
The main mission of the congregation is to make God's goodness visible and tangible through a Christianity of action. This is done through a variety of activities aimed at respecting and protecting the dignity of the human being in every phase of life.
The central fields of activity include:
- Care and Support: The sisters are involved in elderly care, hospice care and the care of people in difficult situations.
- Social Work: Through the Vinzenzpforte, a social café in Hildesheim, they offer a place of encounter, advice and support for those in need.
- Education: The congregation is the sponsor of the Vinzenz von Paul Schule in Duderstadt, a vocational school for social assistants and a technical school for social pedagogy.
- International Aid: Since 1996, the sisters have been working in the hard-to-reach town of Omate in the southern Andes of Peru, where they care for poor, old and sick people and support the schools in the surrounding mountain villages.
The Vinzentinerinnen Hildesheim are part of a worldwide Vincentian family (FamVin), which is oriented towards the values of Saint Vinzenz von Paul and is committed to a more just world.
The congregation also offers spiritual programs such as "Kloster auf Zeit" in the motherhouse, which allows interested people to get to know life in the monastery and to go in search of silence and prayer.
The Kongregation der Barmherzigen Schwestern vom hl. Vinzenz von Paul in Hildesheim sees itself as a community that faces the challenges of the time and turns with all its strength and compassion to people in distress, need and personal crises.
