Württembergische Schwesternschaft vom Roten Kreuz e. V.

The Württembergische Schwesternschaft vom Roten Kreuz e.V. (WSSRK) is a non-profit association of around 1,500 professional nurses, which has been part of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement for over 100 years. It was founded in 1919 by Charlotte von Württemberg. The organization is one of the 31 democratically organized DRK sisterhoods in Germany[1][3].

The WSSRK follows the seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement:

• Neutralität
• Unabhängigkeit
• Freiwilligkeit
• Einheit
• Universalität[5].

These values are reflected in the organization's activities and services, which are characterized by humanity, openness and tolerance.

The WSSRK offers a wide range of services:

• Elderly care: The organization operates its own facilities in Stuttgart and Sindelfingen, including the Haus Eichholzgärten nursing home and assisted living facilities[2].
• Day care: Outpatient care services such as Tagespflege Königin Charlotte and Charlottenschwestern[2].
• Education: Around 300 trainees are trained in future-proof nursing professions in close cooperation with partner schools[3].

The WSSRK is involved in various sustainable projects:

• Civil protection: Cooperation with the DRK-Landesverband Baden-Württemberg to improve civil protection through nursing[3].
• Innovative care models: Implementation of pilot projects such as the introduction of Primary Nursing in the Haus Eichholzgärten nursing home[3].
• Development of training modules: Together with the DRK-Schwesternschaft Bonn, the WSSRK is developing a training module for nursing action in crises and disasters[3].
