ZWH - Zentralstelle für die Weiterbildung im Handwerk e.V.

The Zentralstelle für die Weiterbildung im Handwerk (ZWH) is the nationwide education service provider for lifelong learning in the skilled crafts sector. It supports the skilled crafts sector in the further development and strengthening of vocational training and implements innovative projects in the areas of labor market, digitization and sustainability.

The ZWH offers a wide range of educational opportunities, services, training courses and publications for craft businesses, educational institutions and examination organizations. These include:

• Educational offers: Development and provision of course materials, framework curricula and qualification modules.
• Services: Advice and support in the design of training programs, the introduction of quality management systems and the internationalization of vocational training.
• Training courses: Implementation of seminars and workshops for trainers, teachers, examiners and managers on topics such as digitization, sustainability, law and communication.
• Prüferportal: Provision of important documents and information materials relating to the examination for examination participants in the skilled crafts sector.
• Digital learning content: Development and provision of e-learning offers and learning management systems.

A particular focus is on promoting digitization in the skilled crafts sector. The ZWH supports companies in the introduction of digital technologies and processes, for example through training courses on artificial intelligence and the development of digital examination formats. With the UCAN examination software, the ZWH enables digitally supported examinations on tablets.

The ZWH is also committed to strengthening sustainability in the skilled crafts sector. It offers training and advice on sustainable management and develops instruments such as the Nachhaltigkeits-Navigator Handwerk.

The ZWH works closely with chambers of skilled crafts, trade associations, ministries and other partners to make vocational training in the skilled crafts sector fit for the future. It carries out educational projects on behalf of the public at state and federal level, ranging from integration into the labor market to training quality and sustainability in the skilled crafts sector.

The ZWH is internationally active and supports the dissemination of the dual training system abroad. It advises foreign institutions on the development and implementation of vocational training programs and carries out international education projects.
