Conne Island is looking to fill its graphics position starting April 1st, 2023.

The position is for 20 hours per week. The working hours are partly flexible, but are based on fixed (submission) deadlines. The position is permanent and is intended to be filled on a long-term basis. Payment is based on Conne Island's in-house pay scale.

The tasks include layout and pre-press for all Conne Island advertising material, primarily the design of flyers, posters and the CEE IEH (the monthly program booklet). Proficient use of Adobe CC or Affinity and extensive experience in media design is required. There should be a particular interest in the intersection of culture and politics and related design tasks. It is possible to apply to this position as an existing working collective.

Regular attendance for consultations with other staff members is desired. Participation in the plenum, the work meeting and the annual retreats is obligatory for all permanent employees. Taking occasional shifts (admission, cashier, cleaning toilets, etc.) is welcome.

The Conne Island is an open collective, backed by a non-profit association. As a socio-cultural center it is institutionally supported by the Cultural Office of the City of Leipzig. The Monday plenum decides on the orientation, offers and events by consensus. Working at Conne Island also means to act beyond one's own field of work and to keep an overview of the whole project. Political and cultural interest and a feeling for the versatility of the Conne Island, including the many voluntary and paid employees, is an important prerequisite.

Our working language is German, but most of us understand English as well.

We do not require any kind of conventional application documents. In order to get an impression of your work, we need a portfolio with creative work samples. In addition, we ask you to write informally about yourself and your work, using the following questions as a guide:
