About the Opportunity

Mnemonic’s Rapid Response programme is expanding its activities with a Palestinian Archive project to respond to information and preservation requests, in support of pursuing justice and accountability for Palestinians.

Our team preserves, analyses, and memorializes documentation of human rights violations and international crimes taking place in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. We do this by collecting and archiving related digital open source materials and analyzing the archived records in our database. Our mission is to support the important work of investigative journalists, human rights defenders, international accountability mechanisms, and criminal justice practitioners in documenting and investigating violations of international human rights law through open source investigation.

By preserving verifiable documentation in our archive and helping others do the same, we hope to support a challenging but important fact-finding process for the people of Palestine. For this purpose, we are looking for an Open-Source Researcher to join our team. The researcher will receive training on open-source investigation while working on the project.

Objectives of the Project

Mnemonic initiated Palestinian Archive project with the aim to preserve at-risk open-source materials related to the ongoing situations in Gaza and violations committed in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel. The activities of the project include monitoring human rights violations in Palestine, identifying and collecting reliable sources that document human rights violations in Palestine, collecting and preserving at-risk relevant content and incoming digital records with Mnemonic’s tools and infrastructure, and conducting open-source research to respond to information requests from various entities.

TASKS AND DELIVERABLES

The Open-Source Researcher of Rapid Response with Palestine focus will be responsible for:
