The Berliner Bau- und Wohnungsgenossenschaft von 1892 eG is a cooperative steeped in tradition that, since its founding in 1892, has offered its members more than just a roof over their heads. With around 7,000 apartments in Berlin and Wandlitz and approximately 19,000 members, the cooperative pursues the goal of ensuring a good, secure and socially responsible housing supply.

The offer includes a variety of housing options in different Berlin districts and Brandenburg, from renovated old buildings to modern new buildings, so that the right home can be found for every need. The well-known settlements include the Bruno-Taut-Häuser in Schillerpark and the "Tuschkastensiedlung" in the Gartenstadt Falkenberg, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In addition to living space, the cooperative offers its members a range of additional services and facilities, including guest apartments in Berlin, Hamburg and Warnemünde, concierge services in selected residential complexes, as well as apartments and shared apartments for seniors.

Another important pillar is the savings facility, which enables members and their relatives to invest their money at attractive conditions and thus support the cooperative. The cooperative was founded to help members save together and build apartments.

The Berliner Bau- und Wohnungsgenossenschaft von 1892 eG attaches great importance to the principles of self-help, self-administration and self-responsibility. As a democratic form of company, the members are actively involved in shaping the cooperative. Every four years, the members elect their representatives to the assembly of representatives, which in turn elects the supervisory board. The supervisory board appoints the management board, which manages the cooperative.

The cooperative is committed to sustainability and publishes an annual sustainability report in accordance with the German Sustainability Code (DNK).

To become a member, the acquisition of two business shares is required. The cooperative supports the family bond and identification with the cooperative idea by continuing to allow children, grandchildren, parents, grandparents, spouses and registered life partners of members to join.
