Der Gesundheitsladen München e.V. has been an independent point of contact and a forum for Munich citizens, patients and insured persons, as well as for all those who want to get involved in the healthcare system since 1980. As a non-profit association, the Gesundheitsladen offers free and low-threshold advice, information and support in all questions relating to the healthcare system.
The core services include independent patient advice, orientation assistance in the healthcare system, information about patient rights and support with complaints about deficiencies in healthcare or suspected medical malpractice. The association also provides contacts to self-help groups and other affected people.
Another focus is educational work. The Gesundheitsladen offers lectures on topics such as patient rights, dentures, individual health services, forms of prevention as well as poverty and health. In addition, information materials are created and made available.
Der Gesundheitsladen München e.V. is actively involved in health promotion and is committed to healthy living conditions for all. Psychological, social and ecological factors of health and illness are given special consideration. An example of this is the "Ruhe + Lärm" project, within the framework of which the association organizes the nationwide "Tag gegen Lärm" (Day Against Noise) in Munich and the surrounding area every year. The aim is to raise public awareness of the effects of noise on health and to promote measures to reduce noise.
The association is committed to the democratization of the healthcare system and humane, patient-oriented medicine. It networks at the municipal level, accompanies the patient advocates in the Städtischen Klinikum München and coordinates the volunteer patient representatives in Bavaria. Der Gesundheitsladen München e.V. is also the office of the Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Patient*innenstellen (BAGP), an association of independent patient advice centers in Germany.
