Die Musik- und Kunstschule Jena (MKS) is Thuringia's largest extracurricular education center for music, dance, drama and art. It has been offering a comprehensive range of courses for interested people of all ages, from babies to senior citizens, since 1948.
The main mission of the MKS is to offer high-quality, diverse educational opportunities in the musical and artistic field and to promote the cultural life of the city of Jena. Its values include the promotion of creativity, the support of individual talents and close networking with the local cultural scene.
Even if the MKS does not explicitly pursue sustainable goals, it contributes to the social development and identity of the region through its long-term educational programs and the promotion of cultural activities. It cooperates with various local institutions to realize sustainable projects and preserve cultural diversity.
The MKS has recently significantly expanded its team, which underlines its importance as the largest school institution in Jena. This expansion reflects the commitment of the city of Jena to prioritize investments in extracurricular education and cultural promotion[1]. Close networking with the municipal company JenaKultur enables the MKS to implement innovative projects and actively shape the city's cultural life[3][7].
