The Katholische Kirchengemeinde St. Johannes der Täufer in Leonberg is a vibrant and open place for people of all ages and walks of life. With a long and eventful history dating back to the late 19th century, the community has undergone remarkable development in recent decades. After Leonberg was a predominantly Protestant city for centuries, Catholicism returned in 1897 with the first Catholic Mass after the Reformation. Today's parish church St. Johannes der Täufer was built between 1948 and 1951 and fundamentally redesigned in 2004 to meet the needs of a modern community.
The community offers a diverse range of services, sacraments and religious celebrations. In addition to the classic church services such as baptisms, weddings and funerals, the community organizes regular devotions, Bible studies, discussion and prayer groups, as well as special events for children, young people and seniors. The church community is actively committed to integration and togetherness and offers space for meeting, exchange and spiritual support.
The mission of the community is to strengthen people in their faith, to give them guidance and support and to accompany them in all situations in life. The values of charity, respect and solidarity are at the heart of community life. The community promotes the participation of all members and is committed to an open and inclusive community where everyone is welcome.
A particular focus is on sustainability and the responsible use of resources. The community is committed to the preservation and maintenance of the church building and the surrounding area and promotes environmentally conscious practices in all areas of community life. The church community is also involved in social projects and supports local initiatives to strengthen the common good.
The Katholische Kirchengemeinde St. Johannes der Täufer Leonberg is a place of encounter, faith and community that accompanies and supports people in all situations in life.
