Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival

The Stiftung Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (SHMF) organizes one of the world's largest and most renowned classical music festivals. Established in 1986 by figures including Leonard Bernstein, the organization's mission is to bring high-quality classical music to a broad audience across northern Germany. It transforms unique, non-traditional venues—such as barns, castles, and industrial sites—into concert halls. Beyond its performances, the foundation nurtures young talent through its Festival Orchestra and Academy. As a non-profit, it relies on ticket sales, donations, and sponsorships.
