Professorship for Biochemistry of Plants (W2 TT W3 or W3)

The Faculty of Biology specialises in research in the field of molecular life sciences. To strengthen this focus, we are looking for a nationally and internationally recognised scientist with good communication and cooperation skills and extensive research activities in a current field of plant biochemistry, with a focus on enzyme biochemistry (e.g. protein folding and stability, redox biochemistry, signaling processes, membrane biochemistry, compartmentalization) or with a focus on the affinity of biological components at the molecular level (e.g. protein-protein interactions, nuclear processes with a biochemical orientation, synthetic and quantitative biochemistry). In addition, the inclusion of research aspects in the fields of physiology and biotechnology of plants is desired.

It is expected that research in plant science and/or methods will complement research already being carried out in the Faculty of Biology and at the Bielefeld Centre for Biotechnology (CeBiTec - Center for Biotechnology).

Of particular interest is the active participation in overarching focal points in planned research networks, for example on oxygen-dependent enzyme reactions or on affinities of biopolymers.

In addition to biology, there are many opportunities for cooperation at the site, particularly in the field of biotechnology, but also in chemistry, physics and molecular medicine.

The Faculty of Biology attaches great importance to the quality of teaching and student support. Molecular Biology is taught in its entirety as part of the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree programs, as well as in other subject-related degree programs. The undergraduate program is taught in German. Active participation in the self-administration of the Faculty of Biology is expected.
