Scientist Spatial Omics (m/f/d)

Fulltime - Mainz

We are looking for a scientist to support our Spatial Biology Unit within Technology Research Center to start as soon as possible. We are an interdisciplinary team of scientists, PhD students, and research assistants with diverse background, including cancer biology, neuroscience, and immunology. Our Unit supports projects of TRON, as well as collaborations with industrial and academic partners by providing expertise in histological assays, spatial proteomics, and spatial transcriptomics. We analyze and validate novel biomarkers in spatial context, deepen our understanding of the tumor microenvironment, and investigate the biodistribution and expression of mRNA-based vaccines and other immunotherapeutic modalities.

The successful candidate will develop novel methods and analysis pipelines for spatial proteomics and transcriptomics, support projects involving data analysis of multiplex and high-plex immunohistochemistry (IHC) and spatial transcriptomics, contribute to exciting ongoing and novel projects in high-dimensional tumour profiling to translate those findings to clinical settings. The candidate will collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines to advance the projects.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Implement, optimize, and apply robust and reproducible analysis pipelines for spatial omics data
• Develop novel multi-modal data integration methods for spatial multi-omics assays
• Integrate in-house generated data with publicly available spatial and single-cell atlases
• Support and train scientists and PhD students in spatial omics data analysis
• Collaborate in multidisciplinary project teams with academic and industrial partners to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets
• Review literature for emerging methods, datasets, and discoveries in the field of spatial omics
• Present and discuss in internal meetings and international conferences, write R&D reports and scientific publications
