Managing Director

The Position

Love For Life is seeking a highly experienced, action oriented, and wholeheartedly committed Managing Director to lead the operational, strategic, and programmatic initiatives. As a core member of the executive team, you’ll have an essential role in shaping the future of the organization and enhancing Love For Life’s evolution and impact in the world. The Managing Director will provide high-quality support to the Executive Director, facilitate executive outreach and external relations efforts, and is responsible for effective management of organizational operations and providing strategic leadership and planning. In this role you’ll oversee all ongoing projects and programs, financial and legal functions, technology and infrastructure, marketing and fundraising, stakeholder relationships and the development of new strategic initiatives. This full-time (80-100%) position can be based remotely within Europe (Central European Time), preferably in Berlin, Germany or Mallorca, Spain, but is not limited to these two locations.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience, including 3+ years in an executive leadership and management capacity.
• A general understanding of nonprofit operations and nonprofit stakeholder relationships.
• Very strong executive organization and communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills including the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, manage group workstreams.
• Experience in financial, project budgeting, fundraising, and program development.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and to independently and proactively meet challenges, complete tasks on time with high-quality and the ability to prioritize effectively.
• Very strong strategic thinking, planning, and execution skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with the current technology and digital tools that can support the organization’s operations, fundraising, communication, and program delivery.

Love For Life is a multicultural and multilingual team. To be effective in your role, you will need to be bilingual in German and English and be able to communicate at the highest level in both. Spanish language skills are of high value to communicate with our partners and stakeholders in Latin America. On occasion this role will require domestic and international travel. You will also be provided with opportunities to travel to the rainforests in Latin America to experience our programs and projects in the fields and to meet our partners.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Organizational Development

The Managing Director must have a proven track record of formulating and executing strategic plans and operational frameworks across domains of an organization. As the Managing Director you will work closely with the executive team to ensure alignment with the organization’s vision and goals and all ongoing programs and projects:

• Work with the executive core team (Regional Director, Program Manager, Fundraising Manager, and Executive Director) to develop and coordinate the execution of operational plans to achieve Love For Life’s short and long-term goals around fundraising, alliance building, marketing/brand development and programs reach and impact.
• Create and maintain an organizational strategy, structure and resourcing plan that effectively executes the operational plans across domains of the organization operations, admin, HR, tech, communications & marketing development, finance, legal and support for programs.
• Specifically, this role will develop the strategy to fundraise and allocate resources for all programs and projects.
• Marketing efforts tied to fundraising, strategic initiatives and programs
• Coordinate key program development, fundraising and strategy planning in conjunction with the Executive Director, and make recommendations on business decisions.
• Partner with the Regional Director and Program Manager to coordinate all phases of project implementation and plan the evolving strategy of Love For Life’s all ongoing programs.
• Establish and monitor performance-reporting for programs, projects and initiatives.
• Ensure that all activities comply with organizational requirements for quality management, legal stipulations, and general duty of care
• Ensure well-being and commitment of all staff.
• Facilitate an efficient and heart-centered work environment.
• Liaise with and support Executive Director as necessary; prepare financials and operational updates.
• Advanced strategic thinking and organizational planning abilities.
• Experience in leading teams and scaling organizational operations.
• Skills in process optimization and administrative leadership across various fields.
• Expertise in growing and scaling programmatic, marketing and fundraising systems.
• Proficient in data-informed decision-making and utilizing analytics for operational improvements to complement a heart-centered leadership approach.
