MQV gGmbH – Technical Lead Neutral-Atom Quantum Computing (m/f/d)
published since: 5 March 2026
The Munich Quantum Valley (MQV) gGmbH is a non-profit organization supported by the Bavarian state government as part of the Hightech Agenda Bavaria. Its mission is to develop quantum computing demonstrators based on superconducting qubits and neutral atoms and to make them available for applications in science and industry.
You will have a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of neutral-atom quantum computing within one of Europe’s most ambitious publicly funded quantum initiatives. Acting at the interface of cutting-edge research, technology transfer, and public funding, you will help position Munich Quantum Valley as a leading international hub for neutral-atom quantum technologies.
Your mission:
As Technical Lead for Neutral-Atom Quantum Computing, you will be responsible for defining and driving the key technological and scientific developments required to scale neutral-atom quantum processors. You will translate scientific advances into a coherent technical roadmap and lead their implementation in close collaboration with academic and industrial partners.
Your responsibilities:
Developing and maintaining a long-term technological and scientific roadmap for neutral-atom quantum computing, with a focus on scalability, performance, and fault tolerance.
Leading and growing a team of technical experts addressing key challenges in neutral-atom quantum hardware and systems integration.
Guiding and coordinating technical development activities across partner institutions, startups, and internal MQV projects.
Closely collaborating with academic research groups and industrial partners to accelerate the translation of scientific results into robust technological solutions.
Providing technical input and expertise to joint funding proposals and large-scale research projects at the state, federal, and European levels.
Your qualifications:
Doctoral degree in physics, engineering, or a related field with a strong experimental background in quantum information processing
Proven expertise in neutral-atom quantum computing, quantum simulation, or closely related quantum platforms
Leadership experience or clear potential to lead technical teams and coordinate complex development efforts
Strong communication skills and a structured, problem-solving mindset
High level of self-motivation, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary environments
What we offer in return:
A curiosity-driven, technology-focused research and development environment with an international team of scientists and researchers in the growing MQV gGmbH and its partner institutions.
The opportunity to shape the highly dynamic and productive MQV quantum computing landscape in Munich, one of the leading centers for quantum technologies.
A dynamic, multidisciplinary environment at the Garching Research Campus, one of Europe's most advanced centers for education, research, development and entrepreneurship with internationally renowned institutes in the field of quantum technologies.
A competitive salary, tailored to reflect your experience, qualifications, and skill level within a professional R&D environment.
An interdisciplinary working environment with opportunities for further development.
