The Professorship of Latin American History in a Global Perspective at the KU Faculty of History and Social Sciences invites applications for a part-time position (50%) as

Research associate (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (m/w/d))

to be filled by January 01, 2027, initially for a limited period of 3 years with the envisaged option of an extension. The place of work shall be Eichstätt. The successful candidate will be employed in a private-law employment relationship, in which case remuneration will be according to pay grade E 13 TV-L provided that the requirements are met.

The successful candidate may also pursue doctoral research as part of their work if desired; the University is particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates who wish to make use of this opportunity.

Your tasks

• Academic research in the field of Latin American history: Writing a doctoral thesis.
• Participating in the professorship's upcoming research projects
• Supporting the chair in research, teaching, and academic self-governance
• Teaching duties amounting to 2.5 semester-hours per week

Your profile

• A very good, completed university degree in history with a major in Latin American history (Master's degree)
• Good knowledge of German
• Foreign language skills (English, Spanish, or Portuguese)
